WTJX Channel 12 'Give Twelve Campaign' Rescheduled

Sept. 14, 2004 – If dancing, food, music and free prizes sound like fun, then the territory's public broadcasting television station has just what you're looking for Wednesday and Thursday nights. WTJX-TV/Channel 12/DT 44 is inviting the public to join the party as it launches its "Give Twelve Campaign," Sept. 22 and 23. These events have been rescheduled from last week, when bad weather forced postponement.
Wednesday's event will be held at the WTJX Hay Piece Hill studio, 6:30-9:30 p.m. St. Croix's party is from 6:39-9 p.m. Thursday at WTJX's Gallows Bay studio.
The campaign's goal, according to station development officer Yvette deLaubanque, is for each member of the community served by the station to make a donation – at least 12 cents from each child, $12 from each adult, $120 from each small business and $1,200 from each large company. And during Wednesday's live taping of "Face To Face," from 8 to 9 p.m., pledges can be made on-air.
In recent months the station has added a half-dozen local programs covering everything from local sports and the "scene" around the territory, to positive school happenings captured on video and a weekly review of all things V.I.
And this new batch of local programming is added onto an already vital lineup of shows that deal with science, space, news, theater, current events and children's themes.
Money raised from this campaign will assist Channel 12 to bring more local and national programs to V.I. viewers.
