Jan. 22, 2005 – Transducer Technologies employees who thought they would be out of a job this year have new hope.
Anodyne Medical Technologies, Inc. intends to begin operations in St. Croix in late spring.
A press release Friday from the Department of Labor stated that Anodyne would provide "excellent opportunities for the Transducer personnel." Anodyne is expecting to start interviewing immediately for supervisory, production and other areas including quality assurance, shipping and facilities management.
Anodyne anticipates it will employ two hundred people here eventually, providing opportunities to a significant portion of the Transducer employees. Transducer announced during the summer that it would be closing its doors at the beginning of this year and 125 workers would lose their jobs. Anodyne manufactures the Anodyne Therapy System, an FDA approved infrared medical device with several applications including the treatment of health complications related to diabetes. Anodyne Therapy is currently used in over 2,500 treatment centers in the United States, Europe and Asia, and anticipates significant growth over the next several years.
Anodyne is in discussions with the V.I. government and with Transducer trying to identify space for its manufacturing operation on St. Croix.
