St. Croix Resident Named Head of Insurance Firm

Jan. 31, 2005 – David C. Ridgway has succeeded John P. O'Shea as president and chief executive officer of Marshall & Sterling Enterprises Inc.
According to a press release from the company, Ridgway, an executive with Marshall & Sterling for over 20 years, has most recently been managing the firm's St. Croix office. O'Shea, who has been president for the past 25 years will remain as Chairman.
The released stated that Marshall & Sterling was founded in Poughkeepsie in 1864and is ranked as the nation's 26th largest privately owned insurance agency. The firm currently operates from 15 branch offices in New York State and two in the Virgin Islands with a staff of nearly 300 employees.
Commenting on this change, O'Shea said, "Dave Ridgway is a good choice to become our new president. He has the talent and experience to lead our company into the future."
Before relocating to Poughkeepsie, Ridgway was a resident of St. Croix for over 25 years. A graduate of the College of Wooster, he joined Marshall & Sterling in 1984 and was named manager of the St. Croix office in 1990. He became vice president in 1992, President of Marshall & Sterling St. Croix Inc. in 1996, and has served on the Marshall & Sterling board of directors since 1998. Ridgway and his wife, Sue, have two children.

O'Shea have guided our organization forward with superb acumen. I have been most fortunate to have worked closely with both of them. I am extremely honored to have been chosen as Marshall & Sterling's president and chief executive officer, and look forward to leading our organization to further growth initiatives in our U.S. and Caribbean markets."
