Salt River Beach Cleanup Scheduled

April 21, 2005 – A cleanup of the Salt River Beach is set for April 23.
The V.I. Department of Tourism is spearheading the effort along with the National Park Service, Department of Housing Parks and Recreation and the Department of Natural Resource Historic Preservation Division.
The St. Croix Archaeological Society will be providing T-shirts for the first 50 people who show up to help preserve the site where the first, documented, armed conflict between the Europeans and the inhabitants of the new world occurred.
The cleanup starts at 8 a.m. and should be over at 2 p.m. The site has been gaining attention after an official visit recently from a delegation from the V.I. legislature.
