Respiratory Care Department Recognized Nationally

June 13, 2005 – Schneider Regional Medical Center has again been recognized for its quality Respiratory Care Department. For the second year in a row, the Roy L. Schneider Hospital has been named a Quality Respiratory Care institution by the American Association for Respiratory Care. About 500 hospitals out of 5,000 hospitals in the U.S. achieve the quality care recognition.
"The staff at Schneider Regional and, indeed, our entire community, should be proud of this accomplishment," said Rodney E. Miller, Sr., Schneider regional president and CEO. "The Respiratory Care Department is one of the busiest areas in our hospital, and they work hard to ensure that our residents receive the best respiratory care."
To achieve the recognition, hospitals must document that they meet strict requirements and conditions, including having certified respiratory therapists or registered respiratory therapists available on a 24 hour basis. Director of Respiratory Care Jeannine Mydlenski, BS RRT-NPS, said the department sees an average of 20 patients a day, not only treating asthma, bronchitis, and other lung conditions, but sickle cell disease, renal failure, cardiopulmonary failure, and stroke victims. "We are committed to providing an excellent standard of care everywhere," she said.
The medical director of the Respiratory Care Department is Dr. Derrick Jones and consulting physicians are Dr. Audria Thomas and Dr. Thelma Watson. Staff members are Reginald Wilkerson, Sharon Grogen, Delores Singh, Judy Benefield, Chris Valmores, Phil Yorio, and Jon Scoggins.
