The Independent Citizens Movement of the VI thanks all those who contributed to the success of the luncheon held on Sunday, April 9, at the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel on St. Thomas.
There was an overflow of the principal hall by the attendees; additional places had to be set up to accommodate the persons who attended. There was a cross section of the community present. Attorney Julio Brady, state chair of the Republican Party of the Virgin Islands was present and brought a donation from the party members, who sponsored the attendance of the some of the students who attended. There were students from the Antilles School and All Saints Cathedral School who participated as Host and Hostesses. There were students from Charlotte Amalie High School from a special English class who presented a skit, under the direction of Irma Skelton. Ivanna Eudora Kean High School was represented by Keith Johnston, music director, and students RonAqua Annette Russell and Jenelle Webster.
The Rt. Rev. Bishop Ambrose Gumbs officiated. Verna Rogers led in the singing of the anthems and gave other musical renditions. Arthur Joseph, chairperson of the ICM Party, VI gave the welcoming remarks. Cpl. Ludrick Thomas(VIPD) was the master of ceremony. J. J. Estemac, vice-chairperson of the ICM Party, VI gave closing remarks. The management of the restaurant should be commended for the décor, the food and the service. Persons that were recognized are: Elise Vialet, Gladys Todman, Sen. Liston A. Davis, Sen. Usie R. Richards and Sen. Terrence Nelson. The honorees received beautiful engraved plaques. Sen. Lorraine Berry and her husband were in attendance, and she addressed the audience. There were several door prizes to the delight of the audience. The attendees expressed satisfaction with the West Indian buffet and the program as a whole. By all observations and reports the event was a successful civic event.
