Aug. 16, 2006 — Telephone service in several areas on St. Croix was disrupted Tuesday due to damaged cable in the Mon Bijou area, according to Innovative Telephone President David L. Sharp.
Contractors working on the bridge for the Mon Bijou Flood Zone project severed two major telephone cables and cable television lines during excavation about 3 p.m. Affected areas include Frangipani, Canaan Ridge, Betsy's Jewel, La Valle and Davis Bay. Innovative Telephone officials estimate 300-500 customers have been affected by this outage.
Sharp said, in a release from Innovative, that repairs are ongoing and that all service should be restored by mid afternoon Wednesday. He said that Innovative Telephone will keep its subscribers informed of any changes in service that may occur.
