Dear Source:
I recently retired from St. Croix to the U.S. mainland but my heart will always be in the Virgin Islands. It is because of that, that I am dismayed at Mr. Whitman Browne who is apparently a principal in one of the St. Thomas schools. He responds to one of apparently disgruntled teachers. In his response he refers to St. Thomas as the "colony."
If I, as a long time resident of the Virgin Islands from the U.S. mainland takes offense at the term "colony," then what must native Virgin Islanders feel. As a principal of a school system I would think he would choose his words more carefully.
