Education to Fund Courses for Teachers, Paraprofessionals and Others

Nov. 21, 2006 – Education Human Resources will pay for 100 percent of tuition cost and associated fees for the territory's public school teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff, including administrators, for one course at the University of the Virgin Islands during the spring 2007 semester. All courses offered to paraprofessionals will be at the undergraduate level, while courses offered to teachers and other non-teaching staff can be either at the undergraduate or graduate level. Paraprofessionals must enroll in education courses or other courses leading to an education degree while other non-teaching staff must enroll in a course related to duties they perform at the department, according to a press release from Education.
Due to the limited number of available courses, interested individuals are asked to act quickly as the selections will be made on a first come, first serve basis. Course textbooks are the responsibility of the individual and reimbursement to the Department will be required in the event of a failed course.
To enroll, visit the Department's Curriculum Center on St. Croix and Division of Human Resource Office on St. Thomas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., between Monday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Dec. 1. No phone sign-ups will be allowed.
