Police Investigating Separate Shooting, Carjacking Incidents

Jan. 8, 2008 — Police are seeking the assistance of potential witnesses to a carjacking early Tuesday morning in the Estate Williams Delight housing community.
The incident was reported to police at 12:04 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Melody Rames. The victim told police that he had just returned from a store when he was approached by two unknown individuals, Rames said in a news release. The man told police that individuals "pointed guns at him and took him out of his vehicle," Rames said.
The suspects then got into the vehicle, a blue 2003 Silverado truck with the license plate CDA-354, and drove off, she said. The victim described the suspects only as black males and said they wore black clothing. That investigation is ongoing.
Police are also investigating the shooting of a minor that occurred about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Ludvig Harrigan Court housing community, Rames said.
Based on initial reports to police, the 17-year-old victim told police that he was talking with friends when he was shot from behind, she said.
The minor was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical but stable condition, Rames said.
That investigation is also continuing, and police ask anyone with information on the shooting and carjacking to call 911 or 712-6076.
