Brief: Christensen in South Carolina for Presidential Debate

Jan. 21, 2008 — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen joined her colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus in South Carolina this weekend for a series of activities that will culminate in the Congressional Black Caucus Institute debate on Monday evening. The CBCI debate, which will feature the Democratic candidates for president, will be broadcast live on CNN Monday night.
Christensen was the main speaker at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in South Carolina on Sunday morning, in support of the CBCI and in celebration of the Martin Luther King holiday celebration. The CBCI is a non-partisan, affiliate organization of the Congressional Black Caucus which sponsors activities such as Monday night’s debate and the campaign boot camp held every summer.
On Saturday, Christensen joined the Hillary Clinton campaign at several of their activities in Columbia, S.C. On Monday, she is expected to speak at a rally to bring attention to the AIDS epidemic in South Carolina, the nation and the world.
Christensen will return to the V.I. for the State of the Territory address on Tuesday evening.
