Alert: Classes Resume at E. Benjamin Oliver Thursday

Jan. 23, 2008 –The electrical problem that caused Education officials to send students of the E. Benjamin Oliver Elementary School home Tuesday and Wednesday have been resolved, according to a news release from the Education Department.
A transformer at the school blew Tuesday and school was closed at 1 p.m., according to Jeannette Smith-Barry, acting superintendent for the St. Thomas-St. John district. Repairs were made the same day, but the transformer went down again, causing the school in Tutu to close Wednesday.
Final repairs were made with the help of the Water and Power Authority and Bryan's Electric and "all is well," and classes can resume Thursday, Smith-Barry said Wednesday night.
