March 17, 2008 Caribbean Community Theatre presents the dramatic comedy "Grace & Glorie" by Tom Ziegler. There will be seven performances at 8 p.m., on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19. There will also be a matinee held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, April 13.
"Grace & Glorie" is the story of a feisty 90-year-old woman who has checked herself out of the hospital and returned to her cottage in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Her volunteer hospice worker is a transplanted New York sophisticate, and from this unlikely pairing comes a comedy with great tenderness. The play had a successful Broadway run, has been translated into numerous languages, and is a Hallmark Hall of Fame television film.
The play is directed by Eileen Bishop Des Jardins and features Melody Harris as Grace and Marlene Whitney as Glorie. The author, Tom Ziegler, is a native of Chicago who has recently moved to St. Croix. He will be on hand to design the set and give the cast and crew a unique perspective into his vision of the play.
All performances will be at the CCT at No. 18 Estate Orange Grove, Christiansted. Tickets will be sold at the door: $15 for adults and $8 for students. No reservations; arrive early for best seating.
