Stealers and Cartel Dominate Bob Owens Thursday

March 28, 2008 — A game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning by the Seaborne Stealers' ace pitcher, Sam Ramos, propelled his team to a 20-10, 10-run mercy-ruled victory Thursday over the National Guard Hummers.
The game, the first of two played at the D.C. Canegata ballpark, saw the Stealers open up a one-game lead atop the Bob Owens Softball League over the idle Claudio Enterprises with the victory.
The Stealers had 20 runs on 21 hits, while the Hummers had 10 runs on 12 hits. Ramos picked up the win on the hill for the Stealers, while Stanley Jones got the loss for the Hummers. Cartel 20, 40 Calibers
In game two Thursday night, 40 Caliber came out shooting mainly blanks as they were routed 20-7 by the Cartel in five innings in yet another 10-run mercy-ruled contest. James Smith turned in a strong pitching effort in keeping the usually potent 40 Caliber offense in check. On the other hand, the Cartel roughed up the 40 Caliber manager and spot starter, Howard Forbes, for 20 runs.
The Cartel had 20 runs on 22 hits, with 40 Caliber only managing seven runs on seven hits. Blake was the winning pitcher, while Forbes picked up the loss. Top hitters for the Cartel were, Darren Lewis, 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, Roger Moore, 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs, and Charles Cornelius was 2 fo3 with two home runs and three RBIs. For 40 Caliber, Cantobol Encarnacion was 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Eddie Benitez was 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs.
