Education's Summer Feeding Program Schedules Workshops

April 2, 2008 – The availability of the fiscal year 2008 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) has been announced by the Department of Education.
"School age children 18 and under may receive free meals through the SFSP. Individuals 19 years of age and over who have a mental or physical disability, as determined by a State or local educational agency, and who participate during the school year in a public or private non-profit school program established for the mentally or physically disabled, are also eligible to receive meals," said State Director for the VI Department Education's Special Nutrition Program Elodia Weekly.
The schedule of workshops for sponsors is as follows:
· St. Thomas-St. John district – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at Head Start, Sugar Estate Complex
· St. Croix District – from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 18, at V.I. Department of Education Curriculum Center, Kingshill
Any public or non-profit organization interested in obtaining a Sponsor Application Package are encouraged to contact the Special Nutrition Program Office at 774-9373, on St. Thomas or at 773-1095, ext. 7082, on St. Croix.
