Education Issues Praxis Requirement for Teachers

May 29, 2008 – In order to be hired for the 2008–2009 school year as a teacher, candidates must have taken and passed the appropriate Praxis examination, according to a press release from Director of Human Resources at the Education Department Alscess Lewis-Brown.
"All elementary school teachers who currently teach in specific academic content areas will be required to take and pass the Praxis II in the subject area being taught," Lewis-Brown said. "High school teachers and other specific content area majors must take and pass the Praxis I – ("PPST") Pre-professional Skills Test."
