Brief: WAPA Maintenance to Affect Water Pressure

June 12, 2008 — The V.I. Water and Power Authority said Thursday that work on a 24-inch main line will lower water pressure for some St. Thomas customers from 6 a.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
Customers at higher elevations, especially in Estate Thomas and Hospital Ground, will experience low pressure or no pressure until work is completed.
The preventive maintenance on the waterfront apron across from the Greenhouse Restaurant involves pouring concrete to prevent critical movement of pipe segments, and the concrete will require time to set.
According to Michael Quetel, St. Thomas water superintendent, technicians will also survey for leaks of the water line.
