Oakland Benta to Serve as Acting Police Chief

June 13, 2008 — Oakland Benta will take over as acting St. Croix Police Chief while Police Chief Thomas Hannah is on medical leave.
Hannah requested and was granted medical leave earlier this week, according to a V.I. Police Department news release.
Benta joined the police force in 1984 and served for more than 15 years before moving on to Innovative Communications Corp., where he filled the posts of director, and later president, of security. He subsequently returned to the department and most recently served as special assistant to the police commissioner.
