Two Good Hope Seniors Named National Achievement Scholars

June 18, 2008 – The College Board has named Mary Cromwell and Stephanie Thompson, Good Hope School seniors, Achievement Scholars in The National Achievement Scholarship Program competition. The program recognizes Black American high school students with exceptional achievement on the college-level exams. The board also reviews applicants' academic accomplishments, personal essays and counselor recommendations.
Of more than 140,000 students who entered the 2008 competition, 800 students were designated as Achievement Scholars. Mary and Stephanie were among those judged to have the strongest record of accomplishments and greatest potential for academic success in college.
Both Mary and Stephanie will begin college in the fall. Mary will attend Dartmouth College and Stephanie will attend Amherst College.
