Mango Tango Expands in Yacht Haven Grande Showcasing Interior Design

Sept. 9, 2008 – Mango Tango invites the public to join in the "We've Got You Covered" party at their new store, located in the former Chico's in the Yacht Haven Grande Marina. The grand opening will be held from 7-9 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Mango Tango Home & Print Gallery. The event includes raffles and light refreshments. The new store showcases fine teak and mahogany furniture pieces, with a great abundance of framed art prints and home accents from around the world.
Neighboring merchants feature signature items from their venues during the evening and will also be open for business until 9 p.m. Coordinated by model and Havana Nines manager Fitzgerald Morgan, a fashion show at the beginning of the evening kicks off the festivities. Participants include Cache, Icing, Havana Nines, Tommy Hilfiger, Solstice, and White House//Black Market. Shaka Allen of Cache notes that while the woman's clothing store is popular with locals and visitors, it's the locals' return business that makes the apparel shop work.
Icing manager Sylvia Puig describes her stores' product line as high fashion accessories at reasonable prices. Icing's seven-month run in the marina has been quite successful due to local patronage. Morgan of Havana Nines says that the "show is a chance to thank some locals for their repeat business, introduce others to the fine fashion available and to welcome the Mango Tango Home Gallery to the marina." Trevorlyn Caines has been at the helm of White House/Black Market since the business opened in Yacht Haven Grande in early 2007. The distinct woman's wear of the store is stylish black and white clothing with European influence and is very popular with the locals.
Many companies in the Virgin Islands are importing hardwood furniture from Indonesia, according to Mango Tango Home Gallery director Jane Coombes; however, Mango Tango offers furniture pieces that are works of art. Our manufacturers have a hands-on quality control over a tightly supervised production process of reproductions of colonial furniture and new contemporary lines. They lavish great attention on detail.
Interior designer Richard Harris of St. Croix has overseen design and manufacture of the solid wood furniture sold in Mango Tango for the last 13 years. His work was recently featured on the cover of Architectural Digest. He and Coombes will work directly with clients or with the client's designer.
"'We've Got You Covered' refers to what Mango Tango can do for clients. We can take care of your furniture and decorative needs from the foyer of your house to your balcony. Our art will compliment the walls of your workspace and your home. When we found out our neighbors wanted to add the fashion show, we thought, that now the complete person was covered–from their head to their toes in fashion and from the front of the house to the patio in furniture from merchants at Yacht Haven Grande," Coombes said. For more information, call 715-2789.
