Sept. 20, 2008 – Members of the U.S.V.I. Soccer Association's New Vibes had to come from behind to keep their unbeaten record intact when they defeated the M.I. Roc Masters 4-1 in the St. Thomas Region action on Thursday night, Sept. 18, at the Lionel Roberts Stadium. Twenty minutes into the first half, the Roc Maters' Asa Wrensford scored from a rebounded shot to give his team the early lead. The New Vibes' Leyan Antoine scored the equalizer. At half time, they lead 3-1. The league's leading scorer, Brian Charlery, scored a hat trick for the team in the victory.
Thursday's second game ended abruptly after the Central Link were awarded a penalty against the Haitian Superstars, who were leading 1-0 at the time. The resulting mayhem brought the evenings activities to a quick end. Both the Central Link and the Haitian Superstars would be suspended from all league action until further notice. In addition, players from other teams who were involved in the fracas would be suspended until further notice. The incident is still being investigated.
