A Tragedy That May Lead to Love and Unity

Dear Source:

One can only thank the dear inhabitants of St. Thomas for the loving acceptance and assistance given to Gabe Lerner during the period of time that he was privileged to live amongst you. I received this news through Bahá´í friends living in Milwaukee, and can assure you that Gabe, his family, Bahá´í friends and the Island of St. Thomas are receiving prayers from many of us followers of the Bahá´í Faith from around the world.
I was most interested in this event taking place in St. Thomas, as I visited your very beautiful island back in 1954 when I spent some time in Puerto Rico working for Fuor Corp. which was then building schools in the V. Islands. I had the privilege of visiting one of the first Bahá´í families who had settled in St. Thomas as "Bahá´í Pioneers", at that time.
May this tragedy lead to ever-greater heights of love and unity among all the inhabitants of your Island. All may be assured of my prayers.
