Five Charged with Illegally Possessing Firearms

Police on St. Croix made five arrests late Saturday on gun possession charges following a call of shots fired in Estate Diamond Ruby.

Officers responded to a “shots fired” call just before midnight Saturday. As police approached the area they saw several men outside a residence and approached them. The weapons were found in the same area.

Arrested were Roberto Encarnacion, 26, of Estate Mon Bijou; Devon Henry, 41, of Estate Diamond Ruby; Nathan Francis, 26, of Estate Tamarind; Javed James, 20, of Estate Sion Farm; and Fernando H. Martin, 30, of Estate Work and Rest.

The five men are all St. Croix natives and were held on $25,000 bail. Unable to post bail they were all remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.

Police seized a .38 caliber revolver and a 9 mm pistol. Both weapons were unlicensed and had obliterated serial numbers.
