Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Crime Stoppers is asking your help to solve the following crimes. If you know something, say something, as law enforcement cannot control crime without the help of the community.

St. Croix: On Aug. 29 at about 1 a.m. on Queen Mary Highway at the Williams Delight intersection, a 20-year-old female was shot and injured by an unknown person as she drove away from a robbery attempt. If you were at this intersection near that time and observed anyone in the area or saw this attempted robbery, tell us what you know so law enforcement can identify and arrest the shooter.

St. John: On July 10, a 12-foot Caribe inflatable boat was observed to be securely docked with its black 15-horsepower Mercury outboard motor mounted on it in the area of the customs dock in Cruz Bay. On July 14, at approximately 3 p.m., the owner discovered that the vessel was on dry dock and the engine, fuel tank, a one-kilogram chrome Bruce anchor, and a foot pump were missing.

St. Thomas: On July 7, 2008 at about 3:30 p.m., in the Shop Rite Grocery in Lindbergh Bay, retired police Sgt. Liston Gumbs observed a robbery in progress. He came to the aid of a cashier and in the process he was shot and later died. Police believe there were witnesses to this robbery and murder. Please assist us in bringing closure to the family of Sgt. Gumbs.

Please continue to help make our community a safer place to live by submitting information on these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.

Crime Stoppers approved three new rewards in August. If you are one of our 1,333 tipsters to date, please check to see if you qualify for a reward.
