Man Assaulted and Robbed on Strand Street

A man was beaten and robbed late Saturday on Strand Street in Christiansted, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, the incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said the male victim was approached by two young men, who demanded his wallet. When the victim refused, one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s cell phone and punched him.

The victim fell, and the suspects kicked him several times while he was on the ground before running off, the victim said.

The victim described one suspect as wearing a black shirt and dark colored pants, and the second suspect as wearing khaki pants and a white T-shirt. Witnesses said the suspects fled in a northerly direction.

The victim refused medical assistance, police said.
