Man Attacked by Machete-Wielding Woman

A man was on his way to work Friday morning when he was attacked by a machete-wielding woman he identified as a former girlfriend, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a victim being treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for large lacerations sustained in an early morning altercation.

The victim told police he was near the Waterfront area of Banco Popular, on his way to work, when he was allegedly assaulted by the former girlfriend and an unknown man, according to police.

According to the report, the male suspect punched the victim in the face. As he fell to the ground, Daniel began to assault him with the machete. The victim was able to flee from his attackers and ran from Raadet’s Gade to Riise Alley, with the two assailants pursuing him in a white Jeep.

As the suspect jumped from the vehicle to continue her assault, two bystanders intervened and then phoned an ambulance for the victim, according to police.

The attending physician at SRMC said the victim sustained a deep laceration to his left forearm and left hand.

Officers with the Domestic Violence Unit are continuing their investigation into the matter.
