WAPA Continues Rotation Schedule into Evening

The V.I. Water and Power Authority announced tentative electrical service interruptions to small sections of St. Thomas feeders for Tuesday evening, as warranted.

The authority’s began a rotating blackout schedule after a series of caused complications for its generating units 23 and 15. Those units are being repaired. In the meantime, the units still operating are unable to provide sufficient power for the entire St. Thomas-St. John district, causing WAPA to implement the rotations schedule to ensure continuous stability of the system, the agency said.

Rotating service interruptions will be performed on two-hour intervals and will be conducted in a manner to ensure service is retained by as many customers as possible, according to WAPA’s announcement. Notice will be given of feeders selected for rotation by VI Alert or the WAPA website.

Tuesday evening’s tentative rotation schedule is as follows:

6 p.m. – 8 p.m. – sections of feeder 7A

8 p.m. – 10 p.m. – sections of feeder 6A

10 p.m. – 12 a.m. – sections feeder 7C, 8B, 9C

12 a.m. – 2 a.m. – sections of feeder 7D
