Division of Personnel Schedules Entrance Exams for Police, Corrections Officers

The Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands Division of Personnel has announced entrance testing for new police and correction officers, territory-wide. In order to be considered, all interested candidates must submit a completed application package at their district office by close of business on Friday, June 3. Candidates who have previously applied must notify the Division of Personnel of any changes in their mailing address to ensure receipt of confirmed examination.
Qualifications
Completion of the 12th grade or possession of an equivalent certificate (GED); the ability to obtain a U.S Virgin Islands motor vehicle operator’s license; U.S. citizenship for at least 20 years who has not reached his/her 46th birthday. Candidates must also pass a Civil Service written examination, physical agility test, psychological exam, oral board review as well as a background check.
Anyone holding a degree in any field of study from an accredited institution or who has been honorably discharged from any branch of the U.S military may be exempt from taking the written examination but will be required to meet all other established criteria for qualification.
A preparation guide will be distributed during the week of June 6-10 for those who are required to take the written examination.
Testing will be held from July 5-8, and applications are available at the Division of Personnel: St. Thomas location at 3448 Kronsprindens Gade, GERS Complex 3rd floor; St. Croix location at 3009 Orange Grove Shopping Center; or visit the Web site at www.dopusvi.org.
