Human Services Wraps Up Older American Mont

The Department of Human Services have spent the month of May celebrating senior citizens throughout the territory; now it will wrap things up with more activities and events.
Tuesday, May 24, is Citizenship Day, and seniors will assume the role of senators in the 31st Legislature. Older Americans from St. Croix and St. Thomas will meet and debate a bill to “prohibit any requirement that durable Power of Attorney which has no stated time of termination be renewed in order to be effective and for other purposes.”
The Herbert Grigg Home for the Aged will host an open house for senior citizens. A full day of activities is being planned to include music, dancing, food and drinks.
The following day will be movie day, and the seniors will spend time at Sunny Isle Movie Theatre enjoying fun and laughter.
On Thursday, May 27, the seniors on St. Croix will join Sen. Positive Nelson for brunch at 10 a.m. Those on St. Thomas will attend the Senior Ball at Victor’s Hideout beginning at 6 p.m.
The month of activities will culminate on May 31 with the Senior Ball on St. Croix at Divi Carina Bay Resort at 6 p.m.
