In response to the reported sexual assaults that have occurred in the St. Thomas District, the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) Department of Health’s (DOH) Division of Mental Health, Alcoholism and Drug Dependency is extending its counseling and crisis intervention services to those who have survived traumatic experiences.
The DOH encourages the residents in the St. Thomas-St. John District to seek out the Division of Mental Health as a resource with regards to recovery. It offers resources to assist with the healing process, to include information dissemination, counseling services and crisis intervention pertaining to trauma-informed care and the effects of trauma associated with such occurrences to survivors and their families.
