DRCVI to Conduct Workshops on Employment for the Disabled

The Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands (DRCVI) — in collaboration with the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN), and the Training & Advocacy Support Center (TASC) — will conduct two workshops on basic employment including Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) the Ticket to Work Program, the Workforce Innovations and Opportunities Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA).

The two full-day workshops will educate providers and other constituents on VR, U.S. Department of Labor Programs and ADAAA. The workshops will demonstrate that people with disabilities with the appropriate support can engage in substantial and meaningful work. Persons who are recipients of Social Security Disability and human resources personnel are encouraged to attend.

The workshops will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort; and Thursday, Nov. 17, at the University of the Virgin Islands, ACC Building, first floor, St. Thomas. Both workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please register early by calling 776-4303 or visiting the Web site: www.drcvi.org. Space is limited.

Special accommodation requests must be made at least one week in advance.
