Wyndham Presents $45,000 for Education in V.I.

Representatives of the Wyndham Vacation Ownership presented a total of $45,000 for education in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The awards were made Oct. 27 and announced in a news release Wednesday.

The donations were:

– $15,000 to the St. Thomas Department of Education,

– $10,000 to the Territorial Scholarship Fund at the University of the Virgin Islands Summit.

– Two $10,000 scholarships to graduating seniors pursing a business degree in hospitality.

“We’re pleased to once again make these donations as part of our ongoing commitment to the island,” said Karen Case, senior vice president, human resources for WVO. “At Wyndham Vacation Ownership we’re passionate about supporting the St. Thomas community, and these donations reflect our sustained desire to aide in the development and education of our future leaders.”

WVO has been supporting local education programs and establishing career development opportunities within hospitality, resort operations, sales and marketing, since 2013, when it announced of its flagship Margaritaville Vacation Club resort.

According to the news release, the company strives to improve the lives of future generations through education and volunteer service of associates worldwide through its philanthropic program.

Wyndham St. Thomas began welcoming owners in August 2015 and currently features 70 fully furnished condominium-style timeshare units. The custom-designed resort immerses owners and guests in a completely unique, Margaritaville-themed experience featuring Jimmy Buffett’s lifestyle brand inspired by his experiences, music and books.
