Pan American Youth & Veteran Fencing Championships Come to St. Thomas

The 2017 Pan American Youth & Veteran Fencing Championships will be held from July 23-30 on St. Thomas. Over 300 athletes from 34 countries from the Western Hemisphere, in addition to their coaches, family and friends, will take part in the event, which will take place at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports & Fitness Center. The Fencing Championships are a family event; children, parents and grandparents will be participating and making it their family vacation.

The youth categories are ages 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13. The veteran categories are 40-49, 50-59 and 60 plus.

“We are so excited to host this event as it will showcase our state of the art sports facilities, our beautiful island and Virgin Islands hospitality in this Centennial Year Celebration,” said Joyce Bolanos.

The event is free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to see how they too can join the sport and fence for the Virgin Islands.
