DPNR Requests All Mooring GPS Coordinates

Marinas, anchorages and harbors on St. Croix

The Division of Environmental Enforcement is currently in the process of implementing a mapping system for all moorings in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources.

Commissioner Nominee Jean-Pierre L. Oriol reminds all permitted mooring holders that they must bring their GPS coordinates in the proper format for proper processing of their application for the 2019-2020 registration year.

Anyone applying or renewing a mooring application must submit GPS coordinates of the mooring in Geographic Coordinate System 1984 (GCS_WGS_1984): hdd.ddddddo to the Division of Environmental Enforcement.

Unfortunately, many GPS readings currently submitted are not in this format and must be updated for the 2019-2020 registration year.

For more information, contact the Division at 773-5774 in the St. Croix District or 774-3320, ext. 5125 in the St. Thomas-St. John District.
