Leonard Cleophas Brooks

Leonard Cleophas Brooks, also known as “Junior” or “Blacka,” of Estate Williams Delight.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Brooks, also known as “Bones.”

He is survived by his mother, Joan Wilson; stepfather, Lennox Wilson; special father, Vernon Hodge; fiancé, Keila DeJesus; son, Jahnai Brooks; daughter, Lyana Brooks; stepson, Kaleb Pryce; grandparents: Wycliffe and Elsa Daniel, Edna Brooks and Eugene Taji; adopted grandparents: Sylvia and Albert Rogers and Adora Thomas; godparents: Clement Smith, Alfred Brooks and Sylvia Brooks; brother, Craig Wilson; sisters: Lennicia Wilson and Thelma Gumbs; special sisters: Tiffany, Leandra and Shareen Gumbs, and Valencia Ruan; brother-in-law, Raheem Burton; nieces: Tadajah and Talia Gumbs, Azelia and Zoe Wilson; and nephews: Jason Charles and Tkari Gumbs.

More survivors are uncles: Nigel and Martin Daniel, Jeremy Hodge, Rene, Elvis and Luis Brooks, Eldred Gumbs, Henry and Mervin Rogers, Percy, Avery and James Thomas; aunts: Barbara Daniel, Nasheta Daniel, Alnette, Tessa and Commelia Brooks, Judith Thomas Gumbs, Sandra Fleming, Jacqueline Reid, Fay Astaphan, Jewel Daniel, Shareen Stuart, Ivy Carty, Gladys Allen, Blondell Robinson and their families; other aunts too numerous to mention; great uncles: Victor, Evan, Ashton and Clarence Brooks, Wycliff, George, Julian, Crispin, Thomas, Carlton and James Gumbs. The families of his deceased great uncles: Oliver Gumbs, Oventon Adams, Ferdinad Adams, George Giggy Brooks and William Hodge and their families; and other great uncles too numerous to mention.

Survivors also include great aunts: Cynthia Reid James, Marva Brooks, Elena Martien, Grace Musington, Heather William, Octavia Lake and Alma Ruan; the families of his deceased great aunts: Veronica Hodge, Ruby Hodge and Eudene Brooks, and other great aunts too numerous to mention; special cousins: Fatima Brooks and Shenikwa Reid; and cousins: Jean-Vaughn Halley, Loretta Browne and family, Ajene Lake, Keischa, Kishma, Tanya, Valeka Allen, Kristian Connor, Kishna Clarence (Junior), Geraldine, Ralph Jr. and Gillian Brooks, Joanne, Jackie and Luvencia Connor.

Other surviving cousins include Melinda Rogers, Michael Roberson, Shionie and Shamoi Stuart, Orin, Shereeka, Tara, Tamera, Desiree, Tasita, Edrado, Lenny and Aaliyah Gumbs, Valarie and Vincia Hodge, Joyce Richardson, Dannella and Anthony Adams, Sherifa Hodge, Westley, Utina, Yuhana, Utain, Shalieka and Nyra Daniel, Jeriesha and Jervon Hughes, Jeryce Hodge Markman, Correta Thomas, Ama and Terrance Mills, the Children of Alma Ruan, the Children of Bernice Richardson, the Children of the late Joleen Brooks; and other cousins too numerous to mention.

A viewing and tributes will be held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday March 7, at Bethel Methodist Church, Frederiksted, St. Croix.  Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
