Man Injured in Shooting in Frydenhoj

A St. Thomas man was injured by gunfire Wednesday morning and treated for his wounds at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at approximately 11:11 a.m. Wednesday the 911 emergency call center received a call that shots were being fired in Frydenhoj in the vicinity of the ballpark. Officers traveled to the area and learned that a male victim was shot and was being taken to Schneider in a private vehicle.

The victim, who was interviewed at the hospital, said he was in the area when a blue car came speeding by and fired shots. The victim was shot in the lower leg and transported to the hospital by a private citizen. As of Thursday morning he was listed in stable condition.

Police urged anyone with information to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
