St. Thomas Man Charged with Burglary

Desmond E. Walwyn, a 63-year-old of no fixed residence, was arrested by the V.I. Police Department on Tuesday and charged in the theft of items from a docked boat in Charlotte Amalie.

According to the VIPD, Walwyn was arrested around 7 p.m. Aug. 25 and charged with third-degree burglary, grand larceny, unlawful entry and destruction of property.

Police said Walwyn had been identified as one of the individuals who removed items from a vessel docked near the U.S. Coast Guard dock on Veteran’s Drive on June 12.

Bail for Walwyn was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
