STJ Man Charged with Rape Turns Himself In

At around 6:30 a.m., Saturday, 40-year-old Leopold Chinnery Jr. of Estate Adrian turned himself into police after learning that he was wanted, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, Adrian was arrested on a warrant charging him with three counts of first-degree aggravated rape, six counts of first-degree unlawful sexual contact, two counts of child abuse and two counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect.

Chinnery is accused of various acts that occurred between 2016 and 2018.

Bail for Chinnery was set at $150,000. He was unable to post bail, and he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections, pending his advice of rights hearing.
