VIDOH Schedule of National Public Health Week Activities

Commissioner Justa Encarnacion has announced the schedule for the VI
Department of Health’s recognition of National Public Health Week. The events will take place during the week of April 4th through the 10th.

Monday, April 4
• Commissioner Encarnacion will provide remarks about Public Health Week activities on WGOD radio station 97.9 FM (8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.) with Pastor Danhugh Gordon. The public may listen live over the internet at WGOD 97.9.

Tuesday, April 5
• Commissioner Encarnacion will share Public Health Week remarks on radio station WDHP, “The Reef” 1620 AM, with host Senator St Claire Williams from 9:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Listeners can tune in online at The Reef 103.5 – Live Online Radio.

Wednesday, April 6
• St. Thomas: A health outreach event at Four Winds Plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event will provide the public with free screenings and health information
• MCH on St. Thomas will conduct outreach activities in selected schools
• St. Croix: A health outreach event at a housing complex in Frederiksted. The event will provide residents with free screenings and health information
• MCH on St. Croix will conduct outreach in selected schools
• St. John: The Morris F. DeCastro Clinic Staff will be conducting a health-promoting walk at 9:00 a.m. The walk will go from the National Park to the Gravel Lot.

Friday, April 8
• Public Health Employee Appreciation Day – All DOH offices and clinics throughout the Territory will be closed for the day.

Saturday, April 9
• St. Croix: A fun day event at Whim Recreational Park. This event will also recognize National Nutrition Month from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Reinholt Jackson Complex.
• Commissioner Encarnacion will talk about Public Health accomplishments on radio station WSTX, 970 AM /100.3 FM, with Abdul Ali from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Listeners can tune in online at: AM 970 WSTX – Live Online Radio.

The Commissioner asks the public to join her in recognizing the incredible work accomplished by the DOH team and invites everyone to help wish the staff a Happy National Public Health Week.”
