Glenwood Albato Coggins Sr. Dies at 80

Glenwood A. Coggins Sr.

Beloved father and husband Glenwood Albato Coggins Sr. is dead. Glenwood was born in Christiansted, St Croix, on Sept. 17, 1942, and he died at the age of 80 on Saturday, Dec. 3, at JFL Hospital on St Croix, USVI.

Glenwood worked for many years with Bethlehem Sugar Factory, Island Transport and M&T Trucking before his retirement in 2010. He also was partnered with his father, Alfredo Coggins, with the Coggins auto shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ethleen Francis-Adams and Alfredo A Coggins; daughter, Delita Coggins-Malone; and brothers: Charles Adams and Elroy A Coggins.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Reynolds-Coggins; stepmother, Beatrice Coggins; daughters: Yvette Coggins (Fla.), Ruth Coggins, Elisa Coggins-Marsh (Fla.) and Arlene Coggins-John; step-daughter, Gigi Reynolds-Allen (Texas); sons: Glenwood Coggins Jr. (Fla.)., Glenroy Coggins (Fla.), and Kasheem Coggins (Texas); grandchildren: Kimberly Malone (Va.), Shaunte Baptiste (Texas), Chenique Decicco-Andrews (Ali Andrews), K’Neliah JN-Marie, K’Taesha Brewster, O’Daisha Coggins (Fla.), O’Desha Coggins (Fla.), O’Daine Coggins (Fla.), O’Delle Coggins (Fla.), Kianna Coggins (Fla.), David Baptiste Jr. (Va.), Keon John (Texas), Takiba Ortiz (Natalia Ortiz) (Fla.), Nic’korey Philip, Omarl Coggins (Fla.), Jumaine Coggins (Fla.), Nasim Coggins (Fla.), Mekhi Coggins (Texas), and Kailyn and Kaylon Coggins (Texas); step-grandchildren: Khalid Reynolds and Jamal Reynolds; great-grandchildren: Omariah Coggins (Fla.), Tristan Coggins (Fla.), A’naiya Parrilla, A’naeya Parrilla, Timmoy Sneed, Tisseya Ortiz, Tehara Ortiz, Aden Stephens, Anai Andrews and Asha Andrews; brother: Richard Adams (NY); sisters: Berita Coggins-Saldana, Zelia Adams (NY), Lynelle Adams (NY) and Louella Beck (NY); nieces and nephews: Eudina Jenkins (NY), Mia Jenkins (NY), Ajani Saldana, Richard Adams III (NY), Richards Adams Jr. (NY), Julia Adams (NY), Gia, Brielle Adams (NY), Ariell, Carlisha, Leilani and Cathyleyah Adams (NY); brothers and sisters-in-law: Luis Saldana, Alex Nisbet, O’Neil James, Warren James, Karl Webbe, Wilbert Webbe, Alex Webbe, Deby Erwin and Nadia Webbe Hanley; mother-in- law, Diana Webbe; sons-in-law: Dave Marsh and Kean John; goddaughters: Alicia Wells, Donna Webbe and Enecia Hendrickson; godson, K’neal Francis; his many supportive families: Claudette Edney-King, Corinne Edney-Williams, Ina King-Isaac, Burton Edney Sr. Rodney Edney, Leroy Danielson, Patricia Simmonds and Wilfred Tuitt.

Special friends: Antonio Scatliffe, Diane Canton, Melvin Rhymer, Desmond Ferrol, Clifford Hamilton, Monty Roberts, and Richard Samuel; other families and friends: Marie Schuster and family, Edney, Miller, Walcott, Danielson, Canton, King, Adams, Felix, Simmonds and Francis; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, at the Friedensfeld “Midland” Moravian Church, 1 Estate Mon Bijou, St. Croix. Viewing starts at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are by James Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Friedensfeld “Midland” Moravian Church in Glenwood Coggins’ name. All in attendance are ask to wear festive colors.
