Sen. Carla Joseph, chair of the Legislature’s Committee on Government Operations, Veterans Affairs and Consumer Protection, announced the committee would hold a Townhall meeting on Friday, June 23, for Taxi Operators on St. John.

The Townhall for St. John Taxi men and women will begin at 6 p.m. on St. John in the Cleone H. Creque Legislative Hall.

“This is an opportunity for Taxicab Operators on St. John to share their concerns and recommendations for the industry operations,” Joseph said.

“The Executive Director of the Taxicab Commission has been invited to be a part of the conversation,” Joseph said.

The St. John townhall is the first in a series of meetings to hear from Taxi Operators in the territory about their needs and services provided by the Taxicab Commission.

“The taxi industry is a vital part of our territories major industry – tourism. As our first and last impression for visitors, we must ensure that taxi operators and the commission work cohesively,” Joseph said.

Townhall meetings for St. Croix and St. Thomas Taxicab Operators are currently being planned.
