John H. Woodson Students Dismissed Early Due to Smoke in Area

Students at John H. Woodson Junior High School on St. Croix are being dismissed immediately due to an unbearable odor being emitted from smoke coming from a suspected fire in the area, the Education Department reported just after 1 p.m. on Friday.

Parents are asked to pick up their children as soon as possible. VIDE has made contact with the Virgin Islands Fire Service to investigate. The fire is not on the campus, the department said. The smoke is coming from a nearby area. Students are safe, and school lunch and bus services will be provided, it said.
