Catherine Mathilda Daley Dies in Georgia

Catherine Mathilda Daley passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, in Alpharetta, Ga.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Agape Seventh-day Adventist Church.  The viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. with the service immediately following at 10 a.m.  Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1939, on the British island of Montserrat, to James and Elizabeth Dowdye, and was married to John Robert Daley Sr.  Mr. Daley, also known as Robert, passed away on Oct. 3, 1993.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie C. Daley; son, John Robert Daley Jr.; grandsons and granddaughter: Manuel M. Rivera, Jahmal Turnbull, Keisha Johnson and Wakimba Davenport; great-granddaughters: Jordan A. Rivera and Azyliah Johnson; nephews and niece: Stanley Dowdye Sr., Lesroy Ottley and Elvira Dowdye; as well as great nephews and nieces: Desmond Mead, Patricia Dowdye, George Dowdye, Raphael Dowdye, Stanley Dowdye Jr., Stanasa Dowdye and Stevaughn Dowdye.

Catherine was born the seventh of eight children.  Five of her siblings, Thomas Dowdye, Charles Dowdye, Margaret Ryan — Sarah Ottley and Samuel Dowdye — preceded her in death. Her remaining siblings, Noel Dowdye and Priscilla Carter, both reside in England.

She was also survived by special friends and neighbor, Brother and Sister Fleming; her neighborhood family in Tutu; and her church family.
