Sept. 17

At approximately 6:47 a.m., a hit-and-run accident where two cyclists were struck by a vehicle occurred in the vicinity of Straker Motors on Northside Road (Route 75) on St. Croix. The driver immediately fled the scene after striking the victims. Both cyclists, one man and one woman, sustained major injuries. The man sustained a broken neck and back, and the woman received a broken back and life-threatening head injuries, including hemorrhaging in her brain. Both victims were flown off island to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida for further medical treatment.

Nov. 5

At approximately 11:32 p.m., a citizen contacted 911 and reported multiple shots being fired on Bjergs Gade on St. Thomas, around the Conde Bar. Shortly thereafter, another citizen called 911 and reported that a man had suffered several gunshot wounds about his body.  Upon officers’ arrival, contact was made with an unresponsive man who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds about the body. Emergency Medical Technicians arrived on the scene and determined that he did not have any signs of life.

On Nov. 6, the man was identified by his next of kin as thirty-two 32-year-old Michael Ramos De La Cruz.
