VITEMA Appoints Asim Frett as Deputy Director of Logistics

Asim Frett has been appointed as deputy director of logistics for the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency, VITEMA Director Daryl D. Jaschen announced Tuesday.

Since 2009, Frett has served as VITEMA’s chief systems manager but he most recently served as the acting deputy of logistics, according to the press release.

During his tenure with VITEMA, he has played a critical role in the agency’s ability to maintain its operations through emergencies and natural disasters. He is a seasoned and credentialed professional digital technician and network engineer, the press release stated.

Frett studied at the Southern Polytechnic State University School of Engineering and has earned several professional certifications in Digital Transmission Systems. He has also earned a host of emergency management certifications from FEMA, making him well-versed in the role’s requirements, the release stated.

As the deputy director of logistics, Frett will manage and develop plans for providing logistical support in emergencies and disasters, such as identifying point of distribution sites, developing commodities distribution plans, emergency sheltering support, coordinating offsite resources and collaborating with FEMA to ensure timely responses to emergencies and disasters, according to the release.

He is also responsible for all emergency communications following a disaster and maintaining the 911 Emergency Communications Center telecommunications capability to support the territory, it said.

“Asim has been a valuable member of the VITEMA family for a number of years now and has always shown a dedication to the Agency as well as a willingness to assist in any areas needed. He will be a key asset to the executive team as the deputy director of logistics, and I look forward to his contributions and talents. On behalf of the entire agency, we congratulate Mr. Frett on his appointment,” Jaschen stated.
