Today marks a monumental day for inter-Caribbean connectivity and economic development as we proudly celebrate the inaugural flight of Sky High Dominicana’s connecting the beautiful island of St. Croix and the vibrant Dominican Republic. This historic event signifies a new era in our region’s aviation sector. Sky High Dominicana’s decision to commence this service with its modern Embraer-190 aircraft is a testament to its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The aircraft, designed to accommodate 97 passengers comfortably, offers a swift 50-minute journey between the two islands, making it an ideal choice for leisure and business travelers. This route, operating every Wednesday, with an additional flight in the making, is not just a bridge between two destinations but a gateway to endless opportunities.

The economic implications of this new service are immense for St. Croix. It opens doors for increased tourism, bringing a new wave of visitors to experience our unique culture and natural beauty. This influx of tourists will boost local businesses, create jobs and stimulate our economy in unprecedented ways. For the residents of the Dominican Republic, this service is a boon, providing easier access to and from St. Croix for business, leisure or connecting with family and friends.

The potential for new business ventures, economic development and trading opportunities between our islands is boundless. I want to thank Executive Director Carlton Dowe for making this connection a reality for the island of St. Croix. His relentless pursuit of improving inter-Caribbean airlift has been crucial in realizing this dream.

Sky High Dominicana’s expansion to 21 destinations across the Caribbean, North America and Central and South America, including St. Croix, clearly indicates its dedication to bridging islands and continents. This new route is more than a flight; it promises growth, connection and prosperity for the U.S. Virgin Islands and beyond.

I extend my heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Cesarina Beauchamps, president of Sky High Dominicana, and her team for their remarkable achievement. Their vision of seamlessly connecting destinations is now a reality we can all cherish and benefit from. As we welcome the first passengers of Sky High Dominicana to St. Croix, we look forward to the many opportunities this service will bring to our island and the region. Here’s to new beginnings, sky-high aspirations, and a more connected future.
