WAPA Alert: Do Not Tape Electrical Outlets

On Monday, a fake WAPA page on Facebook suggested taping electrical outlets as an April Fools Day prank, the V.I. Water and Power Authority announced in a press release.

The authority strongly condemns the recent social media post by a fake WAPA page, misappropriating WAPA’s image. Tampering with electrical outlets carries grave dangers, such as electric shocks and fires, posing a severe threat to individuals and properties alike, according to the release.

The authority urges community members to refrain from engaging in or sharing content that promotes such hazardous behavior, the press release stated.

Safety should always be a priority, and the community must collectively work to combat the spread of misinformation that could endanger lives, it said.
