St. Croix Man Arrested for Alleged Strangulation in Domestic Violence Case

A 44-year-old man was arrested Tuesday following allegations that he attempted to strangle a woman during a domestic dispute, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

The incident was reported to the Ancilmo Marshall Command Police Station around 4:24 p.m. A detective from the Domestic Violence Unit was assigned to investigate the case, according to the police report.

Police said the assault occurred earlier that day at approximately 11 a.m., when Sheldon Hendrickson allegedly became enraged during a verbal altercation and grabbed the victim by the neck in an attempt to strangle her.

On Thursday, Hendrickson was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault under the territory’s domestic violence laws. He was booked and transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility, where he awaits his advice of rights hearing scheduled for Friday in Superior Court, the police report stated.
