Man Arrested After Damaging Cashier Window at Frydenhoj Gas Station

A 61-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after police said he used a rock to bang on a cashier window and glass door at First Stop Gas Station in Frydenhoj, St. Croix, causing damage.

According police, officers were dispatched at about 9:21 a.m. on December 5 after reports of a man attempting to break the cashier’s window.

Complainants told officers that George Penn placed money on the counter, but the cashier did not understand what he wanted and tried to return it. She told police that Penn became angry, yelled, picked up a rock and struck the window and door. She also stated that he threatened her and blocked the cashier window, preventing customers from buying gas, police said.

Penn was placed under citizen’s arrest at the scene and transported to the Richard Callwood Command, where he was advised of his rights, processed and booked. He was charged with destruction of property and disturbance of the peace, with bail set at $500. He was later bailed out and advised to appear for his Advice of Rights hearing, police said.
