Jan. 23, 2002 – Whether you call it banquet, buffet, supper or dinner out; whether your meal is Aftensmed, le diner, la cena, Sham or Aandete, you'll find plenty of ethnic cuisine, costume and conversation at the Antilles School Parent-Teacher Association International Dinner. It's set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the St. Thomas Yacht Club.
This year's event, the 15th annual international dinner, offers food representing 18 different countries, all of it prepared by Antilles School parents, according to a release from the school. Table hostesses will be in native dress, and recorded music from each featured country will be played throughout the evening.
The nationalities and ethnicities represented this year are East Indian, West Indian, Hispanic, German/Scandinavian, Italian, French, British, Middle Eastern, Oriental and U.S. American.
There will be a special table with kid-friendly food, and supervised activities for children ages 5 to 12.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children in advance; or $15 for adults and $10 children at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the school main office. Adults who bring a covered dish will receive one free admission.
There will be a cash bar, with sodas, water and an assortment of international beers.
All proceeds go toward Antilles School student programs and equipment.
